Department of Mechanical Engineering, UBC reviews
Worst school of engineering ever by a mile!! A few personal examples: Finals in fluid mechanics had errors galore, because the teacher didn't care to review his own exam! Not surprising coz he's the teacher that doesn't show up in class! …

Disorganized and unprofessional department. Lack of communication between faculty and students. Poorly structured courses with outdated material.
Overwhelming workload and challenging assignments. Lack of support from professors and teaching assistants.
The department needs to update their curriculum to match the industry standards. The courses are not practical and don't prepare students for real-world engineering.
There are only a few good professors in the department who actually care about teaching. Many of them are just there to do research and don't prioritize students' learning.
Limited resources and outdated facilities. The labs are not well-equipped and there is a lack of hands-on experience.
The department doesn't offer enough elective courses to allow students to explore their interests. The curriculum is rigid and doesn't cater to individual preferences.
The department could benefit from more industry connections and opportunities for internships. It's difficult to find relevant work experience.
The department has a strong focus on theoretical knowledge but lacks practical application. More hands-on projects and real-world simulations would be beneficial.
The department needs to improve its communication with students regarding changes in the program and course offerings. It can be frustrating to deal with constant changes and lack of information.
